Amansara
King Sihanouk's 1960s guest villa, reborn as the most private address at Angkor

The building began life in 1962 as a guest villa for King Norodom Sihanouk, designed in the crisp New Khmer Architecture style of the period. Aman kept the curved forms and low profiles and added courtyards, plunge pools and a spa, producing twenty-four suites arranged around two pools behind a high wall.
What guests really buy is access. Each stay includes a dedicated guide and a remorque, and the hotel is practised at getting people into Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm and Bayon before or after the crowds, as well as to quieter outlying temples such as Banteay Srei and Beng Mealea.
Dining is Khmer-led and changes daily, and the spa focuses on treatments drawn from Cambodian tradition.
