The Post began in the 1940s as a small ski lodge and has been run by the same family since the seventies, growing into one of the more respected addresses in the Canadian Rockies without ever becoming large. It stands on the bank of the Pipestone River, a couple of minutes from Lake Louise village and a short drive from the lake itself.
Rooms are timber and stone, many with fireplaces, balconies or river views, and no two floor plans are quite alike. The dining room holds a wine cellar of some thirty thousand bottles, one of the most serious in Canada, and the Temple Mountain Spa has a saltwater pool, steam room and sauna for the end of a long day outside.
Lake Louise Ski Resort is minutes away in winter; in summer the same ground opens up to the Plain of Six Glaciers, Moraine Lake and the Icefields Parkway running north to Jasper.
