Hotel Le Toiny
Hillside villas above the wild south coast, each with its own pool
Le Toiny sits on the island's wild south-eastern flank, above a stretch of coast where the Atlantic breaks hard against black rock and nobody swims. It is the most private hotel on St Barth by a considerable margin, and its guests choose it precisely for that.
The villa suites are scattered across a hillside of scrub and cactus, each with a heated private pool, a shaded terrace and no neighbour in sight. Interiors are calm and sophisticated, with a strong sense of place.
A shuttle runs guests down to the hotel's own beach club on a sheltered cove nearby, where lunch is served on the sand. The main restaurant has a serious kitchen, and the property keeps its own horses and hiking trails through the surrounding hills.
