Hotel Barrière Le Carl Gustaf
Hillside suites looking straight down over Gustavia harbour

Le Carl Gustaf clings to the hillside directly above Gustavia, and its defining feature is the view: the whole harbour laid out below, full of yachts, with the sunset dropping behind the headland. Every suite faces it.
The hotel is small, with around twenty suites and villas stepping down the slope, each with a private plunge pool and terrace. Interiors are done in a soft, French coastal style with rattan and pale blues.
Being in town rather than on a beach is either a drawback or the entire appeal, depending on the traveller. Gustavia's restaurants, boutiques and quay are a two-minute walk downhill. The hotel has a spa, a restaurant and a piano bar, and runs a beach shuttle for guests who want sand.
