In the hills of far northern Chiang Rai, where the Ruak meets the Mekong and Thailand, Laos and Myanmar converge, this Bill Bensley-designed camp comprises just fifteen tented suites raised on platforms in the jungle. It was Four Seasons' first all-inclusive property, and rates cover meals, drinks and most activities.
The tents are permanent structures under canvas, with hardwood floors, copper bathtubs, outdoor decks and, in the higher categories, private plunge pools. The camp is deliberately small and adults-oriented, with a strong emphasis on quiet.
Elephants are central to the experience. The camp works with a neighbouring foundation that cares for elephants rescued from street begging, and guests observe and help feed them under mahout supervision rather than riding them. Other activities include Mekong boat trips, hill-tribe village visits and jungle treks.
