Cheval Blanc St-Barth Isle de France
The most polished address on Flamands, with the island's best spa

Cheval Blanc occupies a garden of palms and frangipani running down to the wide white beach of Flamands, on St Barth's north-west shore. Owned by LVMH, it is the most consistently polished hotel on an island where polish is not in short supply.
Rooms, suites and villas are split between the beachfront and the hillside, in a pale, understated style that lets the setting do the work. The larger villas have private pools and separate living pavilions.
La Case is the main restaurant, and the Guerlain spa is widely reckoned to be the best on the island. Flamands is one of the few St Barth beaches with genuine surf, which gives the hotel a slightly more energetic feel than the lagoon properties.
