The House is a deliberately small adults-only hotel on Paynes Bay, best known for doing away with a conventional front desk. Guests are met by an assigned ambassador who handles everything from arrival onwards, which sets the tone for a stay that feels more like borrowing a friend's beach house.
The thirty-odd suites are calm and neutral, with sea-facing balconies on the upper floors. Complimentary champagne breakfast, afternoon canapes and a daily hot stone massage are included, which is unusual at this size and price.
The beach at Paynes Bay is one of the better west-coast stretches for swimming and turtle spotting, and the hotel sits beside its sister property Tamarind, whose restaurants guests can use.
