Cobblers Cove occupies a pale pink former private house on the northern stretch of the west coast, a short walk from the fishing town of Speightstown. With only forty suites arranged around lawns and a small sheltered beach, it feels much closer to a country house than a resort, which is precisely why its guests guard it so carefully.

Suites are airy and colour-washed, each with a sitting room and a terrace or balcony opening to the garden or sea. Two suites occupy the old house's upper floor and come with private plunge pools and rooftop terraces. The restaurant is genuinely good, leaning on Barbadian produce and the day's catch.

As one of very few Relais & Chateaux members in the Caribbean, the hotel puts its energy into service rather than facilities. Staff turnover is famously low, and returning guests are recognised on arrival.
