Misool Resort
A private island dive resort and marine reserve in the far south of Raja Ampat

Misool occupies its own island in the remote southern reaches of Raja Ampat, West Papua, surrounded by uninhabited islands and some of the richest reef in the world. Getting there takes a flight to Sorong followed by a boat transfer of several hours, which is part of why the reefs remain in the condition they do.
The resort caps capacity at around forty guests with a high staff ratio, and accommodation is a mix of over-water cottages and beach villas built from reclaimed timber. Almost all guests are here to dive or snorkel; house reefs are accessible straight off the jetty.
Misool is as much a conservation project as a resort. The founders established a no-take marine reserve around the island, patrolled by former shark finners, and fish biomass inside the zone has increased dramatically since. Stays are normally sold as multi-night packages including meals, boats and often diving.
