COMO Shambhala Estate
Five residences above the Ayung gorge, built around a spring the Balinese hold sacred

COMO Shambhala Estate occupies a steep site above the sacred Ayung River north of Ubud, on land that was formerly the Begawan Giri estate. It is organised as five distinct residences, each with its own character, staff and shared living space, plus a set of standalone suites and villas.
The estate is built around a natural spring, still used for the Balinese water blessing ritual that many guests take on arrival. Wellness is the organising principle: guests can book a room and use facilities à la carte, or commit to a structured programme covering ayurvedic cleansing, stress management, fitness or nutrition, each starting with a consultation.
Facilities include a substantial spa, hydrotherapy, a gym and yoga pavilions cut into the hillside, along with vertiginous walkways down through the jungle to the river. Food follows COMO's nutritionally considered but genuinely enjoyable house style.
