Jamaica Inn
Wedgwood-blue verandas above a private cove, unchanged since 1950

Jamaica Inn has been run by the Morrow family since the 1950s and has changed remarkably little in that time, which is the whole point. The hotel curves around a private cove near Ocho Rios in a low Wedgwood-blue and white terrace, each suite fronted by an open-air veranda furnished as a living room.
There are no televisions in the standard suites and no music on the beach. Winston Churchill stayed in the White Suite; Ian Fleming and Errol Flynn drank in the bar. The atmosphere is quiet, adult and unapologetically old-fashioned.
The beach is private and the water calm. A small KiYara spa occupies a hillside above the cove, and the kitchen serves proper Jamaican cooking alongside more European dishes. Children under ten are restricted for most of the year.
