Strawberry Hill
Georgian cottages three thousand feet up, above the lights of Kingston

Strawberry Hill sits three thousand feet up in the Blue Mountains above Kingston, on an old coffee estate that Chris Blackwell rebuilt after Hurricane Gilbert. A dozen white Georgian-style cottages with fretwork verandas are scattered across terraced gardens, all facing the drop towards the city.
It is cool up here, genuinely so at night, with mahogany four-posters, mosquito nets and hot water bottles put in the beds. Cloud rolls through the gardens in the afternoon. The place has a long association with Jamaican music; Bob Marley recuperated here after the 1976 shooting.
There is an infinity pool that appears to spill into the valley, an Aveda spa and a restaurant serving refined Jamaican cooking. Blue Mountain coffee plantations and hiking trails are on the doorstep, and Kingston is a winding forty-five minutes below.
