Few resorts in Asia are as instantly recognisable as this one. Designer Bill Bensley terraced four levels, named Heaven, Sky, Earth and Sea, into a forested slope of the Son Tra Peninsula, linking them with a funicular and painting everything in monochrome with flashes of scarlet lacquer. Monkeys move through the trees above the villas.
Rooms and villas look out over a private crescent of sand in a protected bay. Dining runs from the Michelin-recognised La Maison 1888 to seafood on the beach, and the Harnn Heritage Spa sits high on the ridge.
Da Nang city, the Marble Mountains and Hoi An are all within easy reach, making it a good base for those who want a beach resort without cutting themselves off.
