The Agafay is not a sand desert but a lunar expanse of pale rock and dry hills, which is why it can be reached in under an hour from Marrakech while feeling entirely remote. Inara Camp, formerly Agafay Camp, spreads nineteen tents and suites across a 21-hectare site, each with a king bed, a sitting area and a proper plumbed bathroom with hot water.
Evenings are the reason to come. The Atlas range turns pink on the horizon, dinner is served under canvas or in the open, and Gnaoua musicians and a fire follow. Because there is no light pollution the star field is exceptional, and the camp runs stargazing sessions.
Daytimes are spent at the pool, in the spa tent, or out on camel rides, quad trips and mountain-bike routes through the wadis. The camp works well as a one- or two-night add-on either side of a Marrakech stay.
