Hayfield Manor
A walled manor garden in the middle of Cork, ten minutes' walk from the city

Hayfield Manor manages a trick few city hotels pull off: it feels like a country house while sitting within walking distance of Cork's centre. Built on land that belonged to the Musgrave family, it is enclosed by two acres of walled gardens beside University College Cork, so the traffic simply disappears.
The interiors are traditional in the best sense, with a mahogany staircase, open fires and deep armchairs, refreshed by a refurbishment completed in 2025. It remains independently and family owned, which shows in the length of service of the staff.
There is a small spa, an indoor pool and two restaurants, and the hotel makes a sensible base for the English Market, Cobh, Kinsale and the wider West Cork coast.
