Ballynahinch Castle Hotel
A fishing castle on 700 Connemara acres, with the Twelve Bens on the skyline

Ballynahinch sits on a private 700-acre estate where the Owenmore River runs beneath the windows and the Twelve Bens rise behind the woods. It is a castle without any of the pomp: wellingtons by the door, dogs in the bar, and a general understanding that guests will come back muddy.
Salmon and sea trout fishing on the river has drawn anglers here for well over a century, and the hotel still runs its own beats and ghillies. Walking trails, bicycles, clay shooting and woodcock shooting in season fill the rest of the calendar.
Rooms were refurbished in 2024 and range from cosy river-view doubles to larger suites. The Owenmore restaurant handles dinner; the Fisherman's Pub, with its open fire, handles everything else.
