Cliff House Hotel
Built into a Waterford cliff face, with every room looking straight out to sea

Cliff House is cut into the rock above Ardmore Bay, stepping down the cliff so that all thirty-nine rooms face the Atlantic. The architecture is deliberately modern, all glass and local stone, which sits oddly and rather well against a village that has been inhabited since the fifth century.
The House restaurant has held a Michelin star for years, working almost entirely with Waterford and east Cork produce, and there is a more casual bar menu for anyone who has spent the day walking the Ardmore cliff path.
The spa is small and built around the view, with an indoor pool that appears to hang over the water. Saint Declan's round tower, the Copper Coast and the Waterford Greenway are all close by.
