Alila Jabal Akhdar
Local stone and sharp modern lines on a plateau edge in the Al Hajar mountains

Alila Jabal Akhdar was the first international resort to open on the Saiq Plateau and remains the more architecturally austere of the two. It is built almost entirely from stone quarried on the mountain, laid in long horizontal courses that let the buildings disappear into the escarpment, with the Al Hajar range and a deep canyon filling the windows.
Rooms are spare and warm, and the villas add private pools and open-air terraces. The spa sits at the cliff edge with treatment rooms facing the drop, and there is a hammam and heated pool for the cooler months.
The resort leans into the landscape: guided treks along the old falaj irrigation channels, rock climbing and via ferrata, mountain biking on the plateau, and visits to the terraced villages where pomegranates, walnuts and roses are still farmed. Dining uses a lot of Omani produce and mountain honey.
