Zemi Beach House sits at the quieter end of Shoal Bay East, a long ribbon of powder-white sand on Anguilla's north coast that consistently ranks among the Caribbean's best. The hotel is small by resort standards, with rooms, suites and residences arranged around courtyards and pools a few steps from the water.
The spa is the property's most unusual feature: a 300-year-old Thai teak house was dismantled, shipped and reassembled on site, and now houses the treatment rooms and a hammam.
Dining is stronger than the size suggests, with a beachfront restaurant and a rum room holding a substantial collection. The reef at the eastern end of Shoal Bay is good for snorkelling straight off the beach, and the atmosphere throughout is relaxed rather than formal.
