Wilderness Ruckomechi Camp
Albida groves and canoe channels on the Zambezi at Mana Pools

Ruckomechi stands at the western end of Mana Pools, where the Zambezi runs wide beneath the Zambian escarpment and groves of winterthorn albida create the cathedral-like light that photographers come here for. The camp was rebuilt from scratch in 2020 and has ten tents, plus a couple of larger suites, all facing the water.
Mana Pools is one of the few parks in Africa where walking without a guide is permitted for experienced visitors, and guided walking here is correspondingly serious. Elephants standing on their hind legs to reach albida pods are a local speciality, as are wild dog and large lion prides along the floodplain.
Canoeing on the Zambezi, boat cruises, fishing and night drives on the neighbouring concession round out the offering. There is a star bed and an outdoor bath set above the river for those who want a night in the open.
