The Scarlet
Adults-only clifftop spa where the Atlantic does most of the therapeutic work

The Scarlet was built from scratch on a clifftop above Mawgan Porth with sustainability as the starting point rather than an afterthought: green roofs, biomass heating and a natural swimming pool cleaned by reed beds rather than chlorine.
It is adults only, and the tone is quiet. Bedrooms are angled to face the sea, several with outdoor baths or private decks, and the architecture keeps sightlines low so the building sits into the headland instead of on top of it. Hanging basket chairs, a clifftop sauna and cedar hot tubs are strung along the edge of the site.
The spa is the centrepiece, with Ayurvedic-influenced treatments and a serpentine relaxation pool. Downstairs, the restaurant works with Cornish growers and boats, and the beach at the bottom of the path is a short, steep walk away.
