Sailrock is effectively the only resort on South Caicos, an island of salinas, old salt-raking ruins and almost no development. That isolation is the product: guests who come here are after diving, fishing and quiet rather than beach clubs.

Accommodation splits between ridge-top villas with long views across the island to the ocean, and beachfront suites on a sheltered stretch of sand. All have private pools or plunge pools and are finished in a bright, contemporary style.

The Columbus Passage drops away into deep water a short boat ride offshore, giving some of the best wall diving in the country, and the flats produce consistent bonefishing. On land there is a spa, two restaurants and a good deal of nothing at all, which regulars consider the main amenity.
