Ambergris Cay is a 1,100-acre private island at the southern end of the Turks and Caicos chain, reached by a twenty-five-minute flight on the resort's own aircraft from Providenciales. There is no public access and no other development, which gives the place an unusual degree of seclusion even by Caribbean standards.
Guests stay in beachfront suites or in larger villas with private pools, and the rate is fully inclusive of food, drink, most activities and the flight in. Golf carts are the only transport.
The surrounding water is the draw: bonefishing flats, reef diving, snorkelling and beaches that will be empty all day. Onshore there is a spa, a fitness centre, tennis and a small resident population of iguanas and donkeys that the resort has taken some care to protect.
