Suites folded into a volcanic inlet on the quiet side of Milos

Milos has stayed noticeably quieter than its Cycladic neighbours, and Milos Cove is the island's most ambitious attempt at serious luxury. The property occupies a slope above Agkali, a small private inlet on the eastern coast, with around forty suites and villas stepped down towards the water so that each one keeps its own pool, terrace and clear line to the Aegean.

The design takes its cues from Milos itself, particularly the obsidian that the island was mined for in antiquity: dark stone against white plaster, a lot of glass, and interiors kept intentionally plain so the volcanic landscape reads through. It is a contemporary building rather than a conversion, and it feels it, in a way that suits the bare geology around it.

Facilities cover a spa, two restaurants including a more formal option, a beach bar down at the cove and a pool bar above it. The island's headline sights, the lunar white rock at Sarakiniko, the boat-only beach at Kleftiko and the fishing village colours of Klima, are all a short drive or sail away, and the hotel runs boats for guests. Milos has limited flight capacity, so most guests arrive via ferry from Athens or a connecting flight.
