A baronial castle above the Firth of Clyde, with its own boat for the Hebrides

Glenapp is an 1870 Scots baronial castle set in thirty-six acres of gardens and woodland above the Ayrshire coast, with the granite dome of Ailsa Craig offshore and Arran and Kintyre beyond it. It has been a Relais & Chateaux member for years and holds a Michelin Key.
Dining splits between the formal Castle Dining rooms and The Azalea, set in the restored Victorian glasshouse in the walled garden. The Penthouse Suite runs to four bedrooms across 4,500 square feet, which is a scale of accommodation few Scottish castles attempt.
The signature experience is the Hebridean Sea Safari: the castle runs its own boat, and guests can be taken out around Ailsa Craig or much further up the west coast for the day. Turnberry's links are twenty minutes north, and the Galloway hills sit inland.
