Eleven Deplar Farm
A converted sheep farm in the far north, with heli-skiing from the door

Deplar Farm occupies a remote valley on the Tröllaskagi peninsula in northern Iceland, in a building that spent centuries as a working sheep farm. Eleven Experience turned it into a thirteen-room adventure lodge, keeping the turf roof and adding a glass-walled indoor-outdoor geothermal pool, a spa with a Viking sauna, and a gear room that would embarrass most ski resorts.
In winter the draw is heli-skiing on the peninsula's mountains, which drop from over a thousand metres straight to the Arctic sea; the season runs roughly March to early June. Summer switches to sea kayaking, surfing in dry suits, salmon fishing, hiking and mountain biking under the midnight sun.
Stays are all-inclusive, covering guiding, food, drink and most activities, and the lodge is often taken over whole by a single group.
