Cheval Blanc Randheli

French couture sensibility dropped onto a remote northern lagoon

Randheli belongs to LVMH, and the influence is visible everywhere from the art collection to the service ratio. Jean-Michel Gathy designed the 46 villas as pale, airy pavilions with outsized pools, arranged around a lagoon in the remote Noonu Atoll well north of the capital.

The spa is the standout: rather than a single building, it occupies its own cluster of small islets reached by boat, each treatment space effectively private. The dining is similarly ambitious for a resort of this size, with a Mediterranean beach restaurant, a Japanese room and a fine-dining venue, and the wine cellar is taken more seriously than most.

Getting there involves a private seaplane flight of around 40 minutes from Male, operated by the resort itself rather than a shared shuttle. It is an adults-friendly rather than adults-only property, with a children's club, but the overall register is quiet, grown-up and deliberately unshowy given the price.
