Borgo Egnazia is a modern resort built in the early 2010s to look and function like a traditional Apulian village, using local tufa stone, lime plaster and courtyards. It is laid out in three parts: the hotel-like Corte, the village-style Borgo with its own piazza, and a spread of standalone Villas with private pools, which lets it work for both couples and large groups.
The facilities are extensive - a large spa built around local rituals, a golf course, several restaurants from beach dining to a formal room, cookery classes, tennis and a beach club on the Adriatic a short shuttle away. It has hosted high-profile events including a G7 summit, which says something about both the scale and the security.
The location, near the coastal village of Savelletri, is well placed for the trulli of Alberobello, the white town of Ostuni and the baroque of Lecce, all within an hour or so. Brindisi and Bari airports are both convenient.
