Castello di Reschio
A thousand-year castle furnished by the family who spent decades restoring it

The Bolza family bought this vast estate on the Umbria-Tuscany border in the 1990s and spent twenty-five years restoring its farmhouses before finally turning their attention to the eleventh-century castle at its centre, which opened as a hotel in 2021. Count Benedikt Bolza, an architect, designed almost everything inside it, including the furniture and fittings, which are now sold as their own line.
There are thirty-six rooms and suites within the castle walls, plus private houses across the estate. The public rooms feel deliberately domestic - a library, a bar in the former cellars, a stable block with horses, a spa built into the old grain vaults. The restaurant works from the estate's own farm and olive groves.
The land itself runs to several thousand acres of oak woods, olive terraces and grazing, crossed by riding and walking trails. Lake Trasimeno, Cortona and Perugia are all within easy reach, and the estate closes for the coldest weeks of the year.
