Amangiri sits on nine hundred private acres of southern Utah, its low pale-concrete wings folded around an escarpment of striated rock. The central swimming pool wraps a sandstone outcrop that was left exactly where it stood. Thirty-four suites face out across the Grand Staircase-Escalante country through walls that are mostly glass, and several have private pools or rooftop sky terraces for sleeping outdoors.

The spa is the heart of the place — a large complex of flotation pools, step wells, a hammam and treatment rooms that draw on Navajo healing traditions. Beyond it, guides run slot-canyon hikes, via ferrata routes up the surrounding cliffs, horseback rides and hot-air balloon flights over the mesas. Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon are both within reach.

Rates include all meals for two guests per suite. The nearest airports are Page, Arizona, a short drive away, or Las Vegas, around four and a half hours.
