Tongabezi sits on a quiet bend of the Zambezi about fifteen minutes upstream of Victoria Falls, far enough from Livingstone town that the only noise is the river. Accommodation is split between cottages and a set of larger open-fronted houses, several of which have no fourth wall at all and look straight out over the water.
The lodge holds the licence for Livingstone Island, the sliver of rock at the lip of the falls where guests are taken by boat for breakfast or lunch and, when the water is low enough, a swim in the Devil's Pool at the edge of the drop. That access is the single biggest reason people book here.
Other activities include sunset cruises, canoeing, fishing, village and school visits linked to the lodge's own trust, and day trips into the falls rainforest. Sindabezi, a small solar-powered island camp, sits just downstream under the same ownership.
