Sausage Tree Camp
White Bedouin canvas on a Zambezi channel, with a private-chef ethos

Sausage Tree takes its name from the kigelia trees that shade its site on the Zambezi's northern bank, inside the national park. The tents are unmistakable: white Bedouin-style canvas stretched over timber frames, open at the front to the river, a look that has been copied widely and rarely improved on.
The camp has built a reputation for its kitchen, with much of the cooking done in front of guests and meals moved around to riverbanks, islands and sandbars rather than served in one dining room. Its smaller sister camp, Potato Bush, sits a short distance along the same stretch.
Activities cover canoeing through the side channels, boat cruises, walking safaris with armed guides, game drives by day and night, and catch-and-release fishing. Elephant crossing between islands at dusk is close to a daily event in the dry months.
