The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow
A Chatsworth estate hotel looking out over the deer park

The Cavendish sits at the edge of Baslow village on land belonging to the Chatsworth estate, and the connection is more than nominal — furnishings and pictures have been drawn from the great house itself. The view from the front rooms is straight out over estate parkland.
It is a small hotel rather than a grand one, with a couple of dozen bedrooms, a garden room restaurant and a more relaxed dining option alongside. The style is comfortable English country house without the stiffness that sometimes accompanies it.
Chatsworth House and its gardens are a walk away across the park. The wider Peak District — Stanage Edge, Bakewell, the limestone dales to the south — is immediately accessible, which makes this a practical base as well as a comfortable one.
