Peckforton Castle
A Victorian fantasy castle, built medieval and meant it

Peckforton Castle was built in the 1840s as a private house in full medieval dress — curtain walls, gatehouse, great hall — and it was constructed so faithfully that it is often described as the only intact medieval-style castle in England. It is Grade I listed, and it has operated as a hotel since 2006 under the Naylor family.
There are forty-eight bedrooms and suites, no two quite alike, along with separate lodge accommodation for groups. Dining splits between 1851, the fine-dining room, and the more relaxed 2010 Brasserie. An events programme runs through the year and there is a Land Rover experience on the estate.
The castle sits high on the Peckforton sandstone ridge with long views over the Cheshire plain, and the ruins of Beeston Castle stand on the neighbouring crag. Chester and the Welsh border are both a short drive west.
