Cape Lodge is a low white country house on 40 acres near Yallingup, with its own small vineyard, a lake and gardens that take an hour to walk properly. Twenty-two rooms and suites range from garden-view doubles with bay windows to lake-facing suites with spa baths, plus a three-bedroom vineyard residence let separately.
The restaurant has long been one of the best tables in the region and is open to non-residents, which means you can eat seriously well without getting into a car afterwards - a genuine advantage in a wine district where the cellar doors are spread over forty minutes of road. Rates include breakfast.
The great surf breaks at Yallingup and Smiths Beach are ten minutes away, the Leeuwin-Naturaliste caves not much further, and dozens of cellar doors sit within a short drive. There is a heated pool and a spa offering massages and facials.
