The Plettenberg
A headland hotel on the Garden Route with the Indian Ocean on three sides

The Plettenberg occupies a rocky headland at the centre of Plettenberg Bay, so most rooms look straight out over the Indian Ocean towards the Tsitsikamma mountains. It is the coastal anchor of The Liz McGrath Collection, and has thirty-five rooms and suites plus two villas for larger parties.
The hotel is decorated in a relaxed maritime register rather than a grand one, with pale timber, linen and wide glass. Two pools sit on terraces above the rocks, and the beach is a short walk down. Whales pass close to the headland in season and can often be watched from the room balconies.
Amelia's, the hotel restaurant, leans heavily on line fish and shellfish from the Southern Cape. The surrounding Garden Route offers forest walks in Tsitsikamma, the Knysna lagoon, and a string of wine farms in the Plettenberg Bay ward.
