THE PIG-on the beach
Gothic gables, a walled kitchen garden and Studland Bay below

This gabled Victorian house looks down over Studland Bay towards Old Harry Rocks, and like the rest of the group it is run as a restaurant with rooms rather than a hotel with a restaurant. The kitchen garden comes first; the menu is assembled around whatever is ready that morning.
The look is deliberately undone - worn rugs, mismatched furniture, faded fabrics - but the beds and bathrooms are anything but. Rooms range from small and simple to large garden suites, with a pair of shepherd's huts set apart for people who want the sea view and nothing else.
Treatment rooms are tucked into huts at the bottom of the garden, and the beach at Studland is a walk down through the dunes. Corfe Castle and the Purbeck ridge are a short drive inland.
