Rockliffe Hall occupies a restored Victorian hall and its surrounding estate on the banks of the River Tees, a few miles south of Darlington. Rooms are divided between the old hall, a converted coach house and a purpose-built wing, which lets the property offer both period grandeur and straightforward modern comfort.
The spa is one of the largest in the north east, with a hydrotherapy pool, thermal suite and a long treatment list, and the championship golf course is among the longest in Europe. Several dining options operate across the estate, from relaxed to formal.
The location works well as a staging post: the Yorkshire Dales lie west, the North York Moors south east, and Durham city with its cathedral and castle is a short drive north.
