Halekulani built its name on Waikiki, and this is the brand's first venture outside Hawaii: a low-rise resort spread along a protected white-sand bay on the Onna coast, inside Okinawa Kaigan Quasi-National Park. The architecture is calm and horizontal, and the signature Halekulani orchid mosaic reappears at the bottom of the main pool.
There are five pools in all, including adults-only and indoor options, and the beach itself is one of the better stretches on the island's west coast. Rooms face either the sea or the Yanbaru forest inland, and the top villas come with their own pool and terrace.
Okinawa is one of the world's original blue zones, and the resort leans into that with a spa and wellness programming built around longevity, local herbs and the prefecture's famously vegetable-heavy diet. Cape Manzamo and the Churaumi Aquarium are both within a straightforward drive.
